Lighthouse event milestones and special callsigns

The International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend in August remains the premier event with 90 from 20 countries already registered, led by friendly archrivals Australia and Germany with 20 each, and the USA on 15.

In France at the Petit-Fort-Phillipe Lighthouse TM0LHG, a pair from Holland, Helmich PA0HEL and Peter PA0RLM are to proudly celebrate their 10th year as radio amateurs.

In Portugal CS5ARAM at the Montedor Lighthouse, is celebrated by the Association of Radio Amateurs from the Alto Minho, founded in 1992.

The Romanshorn Lighthouse in Switzerland is to use the unique callsign of HB9ILLW. Matt HB9FVF and Silvan HB9FVR will be looking for plenty of contacts.

The annual event usually has more than 500 registrations from about 50 countries, each helping to draw public awareness of the need to restore old marine navigation structures and publicise Amateur Radio.

Whether you want to see past event activity reports, access its facebook page, read the simple guidelines or register a marine beacon for August 20-21, visit the website at illw.net
